You probably didn't really want to know, but ...
To say "I was" is the simple past tense used to describe complete actions or events that took place in some time before now.
To say "I wish I were" is the Present perfect tense describing an action that happened at an indefinite time in the past or that began in the past and continues in the present.
So, I would vote for "I wish I were" and I wish you were there, too.
And, I'll bet all your friends reading this are REALLY GLAD I'm not their Mom!
